EXCEL STUDENT PICKER
Privacy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
Student Picker is a free classroom tool made by Roderic Rinehart. This is an
honest, plain-English account of what it does with data. The short version: your data
never leaves your device — no accounts, no analytics, and nothing is uploaded.
What's stored on your device
- To recover from an accidental refresh, the picker saves your current session — the class
size, which numbers have been picked, and the pick history — in your browser's local storage.
This stays in your browser on that device and is never uploaded or sent anywhere.
- You can clear it any time by tapping RESET in the app, or by clearing your
browser data.
What Student Picker does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no passwords.
- No analytics, tracking, telemetry, or advertising.
- No cookies and no tracking pixels.
- No third-party embeds, widgets, or scripts. Even the fonts are served from this site
itself, not from a font CDN.
- No external network requests: once the page has loaded, the app runs entirely in your
browser and contacts no server.
- It does not sell or share any data — it collects none to begin with.
Student data
- Numbers, not names. The picker shows student numbers, so no
names or other personal information are entered, stored, or transmitted.
- Because nothing is collected or sent, there is no student data to sell, share, or use for
advertising — and none ever is.
Hosting
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As with any website, the host automatically receives
standard technical request information — such as your IP address, browser type, and the page
requested — in order to deliver the page and keep it secure. Student Picker itself adds no
logging or tracking on top of that.
